Anna - SkypEnglish4u

I am an experienced, qualified English teacher. Originally from London, I have been living in Athens, Greece for nearly 6 years now. Before moving to Greece my background was largely in media finance and business management.  I love travelling and experiencing different cultures and countries. And, as an adult learner of a foreign language I know and understand just how hard and frustrating it can sometimes be, which gives me particular insight into the specific problems and needs of adult learners. I have a very wide sphere of interests which means I have no difficulty finding issues in common with all most everyone I communicate with. And, finally, I love the English Language with all its ups and downs and very much enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with others whilst at the same time learning from every single learner I teach.

I qualified as an English teacher with a Cambridge CELTA here in Athens two and a half years ago. I have a BA in Philosophy from Birckbeck College, London and a Certificate in the Social Sciences from the Open University. I am experienced in teaching one-on-ones and small groups both here in Athens and online. I specialise in teaching Business English, conversational English, Interview and Exam preparation and English for Specific purposes.

My teaching style is based on 3 main principles:

* Learning should be as enjoyable as it is rewarding. Laughter is good

*Have the confidence to make mistakes. Mistakes are crucial to learning

*Lessons must inspire us. They should be relevant to us, to our interests and to our reasons for learning.

Every language learner is unique and their reasons for wanting to improve their language skills are unique, so, I tailor every session to those unique needs and requirements and the personality of each student. I encourage input and a joint approach to developing goals. But, at the end of the day, if you are not enjoying you are not effectively learning and this is at the heart of my teaching.
